MVPs: Orange is the New Black Season 4

After a serious three day binge watching session I've finished season 4 of Orange is the New Black and you know what? It's the best season yet. The story is relevant, the acting is brilliant, and it's like series was given new life. I won't be spoiling anything major here but I will say that this seasons MVPs (yes, more than one) really carried the show to a different place.

1.) Taylor Schilling made me like Piper again! After season 3 and her kingpin (queenpin?) persona I grew incredibly irritated by Piper's shenanigans. This season picks up right were we left off but as the episodes go on we see a whole new side off Piper. Vulnerability. Remorse. Humility.

2.) I'll be the first to tell you that Alex Vause is my favorite OITNB character. Laura Prepon this season was amazing. She clearly survives the attempt on her life in the season 3 finale and Prepon's acting ability shows a completely different side of Alex.

3.) DANIELLE BROOKS. If there isn't an Emmy nomination in her near future than it will be a damn shame. I cannot say enough great things about her this season. If you watch season 4 for any reason then watch it for Danielle Brooks.

GoT: Battle of the Bastards

This episode of Game of Thrones was everything. EVERYTHING. The Battle of the Bastards did not disappoint. The battle itself was epic. The episode was outstanding. There was so much going on. Meereen. Winterfell. Daenerys. Sansa. Jon. Ramsey. I don't even know where to start.
Spoilers Below!!!!

My favorite scene in GoT is when Dany gets her army. Or it was until tonight. We pick up right where we left off in Meereen with Daenery's returning to the Masters attacking her city.  Her plan? Defeat her enemies and burn their cities to the ground. Tyrion compares her to the mad king which he has done before. They decide to meet with the Masters to speaks on terms of surrender.  According to Dany her reign has just begun. She climbs on Drogon and flies towards to the boats that are destroying her territory. The camera cuts to a breaking wall and a ball of fire and the we see what I've been waiting for since forever. The two dragons that were locked away? They're out. All three dragons and their mother in the sky. Daenerys says the magic word and all those boats are on fire. Greyworm kills two of the masters and tells the third to spread the word. THE MOTHER OF DRAGONS PLAYS NO GAMES.

"My reign has just begun." - Daenerys Targaryen

I'd also like to point out that Dany did all of this dressed in Dothraki clothing.  I'm looking at this not only as a call back to season one but as Dany becoming Khalessi once again. She was promised the Iron Throne as a Khalessi and if this is any indication, she'll take the Iron Throne as a Khalessi.

And as an added bonus the Iron Born have reached Meereen (quickly I might add) and both Dany and Yara clearly respect a woman in power and a deal is struck. One now has the ships she needs to cross the Narrow Sea and the other has the support to rule the Iron Islands. If you're keeping count we now have a Targaryen, a Lannister, and two Greyjoys in one place.

Over in Winterfell the Battle of the Bastards starts in a way I honestly didn't see coming. Rickon Stark is dead and Jon Snow is PISSED. Hats off to Kit Harrington because I've never seen Jon this angry.

Jon Snow facing the Bolton Army

The battle is brutal and just when our army is surrounded and we almost lose Jon (I couldn't breathe through this part) the Knights of the Vale show up and its clearly over for Ramsey. Inside the gates of Winterfell, Jon gives Ramsey the worst hand to hand beating I think I've seen on the show but doesn't kill him. Seeing this made me question everything I've learned in 20+ years of watching television. Things such as: WHY DIDN'T YOU KILL HIM JON? HOW COULD YOU LEAVE HIM ALIVE JON? BE SMARTER JON.

GoT answered every question. They gave me everything I wanted. After the Stark banners were returned to their rightful place Sansa asks where he is. Ramsey Bolton is tied to a chair in a cell. He tells Sansa that she will never be rid of him and his name will live on, adding fuel to the pregnancy theory fires. What does Sansa do? I'll tell you what Sansa did.

"You're going to die tomorrow, Lord Bolton. Sleep well." - Sansa Stark

She tells him that no part of him will live on and apparently she also let the dogs out. Ramsey's dogs. The same dogs that ate his step mother and brother. The same dogs that haven't eaten in seven days. Sansa watched as the dog started with his face and ate the rest. All I wanted was for her to slit his throat. This was so much better..........I'm fully aware that this show has turned me into a horrible person. Who cares? #TeamSansa

The game has changed on all fronts.  The Starks hold the North once more. The Targaryen Queen is one step closer to the Seven Kingdoms. Season 6 is not only the season of the women but its the best season of the series. I'm SOOOOO looking forward to the finale next week.

Finally Time to Defy Gravity

I've been waiting for this day since October 2009. I was a freshman in college walking through the heart of Times Square. My mind was blown into a million tiny musical pieces. I'd just experienced my first Broadway show and I've been a theatre nerd ever since. I stood at the gates of Oz and I followed the yellow brick road until my heart was bursting with joy. If you couldn't tell by now I saw Wicked and I was changed for good (I'm sorry I'll stop now I swear).

After years of movie buzz Universal's Wicked now has a release date of December 20th.....2019. It's still a few years away but a date means we're one step closer!! The next big question is casting. The OBC (original Broadway Cast) is nothing short of iconic. Idina Menzel (Enchanted, Frozen) snagged the 2004 Tony for her portrayal of Elphaba a.k.a. The Wicked Witch of the West and Kristen Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies, Glee) scored a Tony nom for Glinda.

Watch below as Idina and Kristen sing For Good after 12 years.  I'm so ready.
